World-Renowned Scottish Terrier Handler and Groomer, Rebecca Cross, will lead a 2-day, hands-on workshop (June 6 & 7, 2020) for owners, handlers and groomers who want to advance their hand-stripping skills on Scottish Terriers and learn the finer points of finish-grooming for show. Cross has groomed and handled Scotties to the biggest wins in the sport of dogs, including Best in Show at Westminster and Crufts.
This is an interactive workshop for beginner (6+ months experience is required), intermediate and advanced grooming of the Scottish Terrier only.
A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF REGISTRATION SPOTS REMAIN OPEN.
REGISTRATION CLOSES WHEN ALL SLOTS ARE FILLED.
There are three registration options:
Be an in-person participant. Bring your fluffy Scottie and actively learn the finer points of grooming your dog (2 dog limit); OR
Be an in-person spectator in the workshop
Join us via Zoom, an online experience just like you were with us in person
The workshop will be held at a private residence in Winston-Salem, NC.
There have been modifications the schedule below.
SATURDAY, JUNE 6: 10:00 AM - 4 PM
Set-up starts at 9:00AM. Sessions start at 10:30AM.
Lunch is included in your registration fee.
For those who would like to have dinner together, we will order delivery from Village Tavern (each person pays for what they order). If you prefer to return to your hotel after the session, restaurants in the City are open, but offer very limited seating; nearly all are doing take-out. There is a Village Tavern in the hotel’s parking lot and you may order from them for carry-out.
SUNDAY, JUNE 7: 9 AM - 2 PM
Cross will offer a 1-hour professional show handling session at 8:30AM. This will not be available to participants who Zoom. The handling session will be held in the neighborhood park. You will be able to leave your cars and grooming equipment at the house and follow the Scottie parade to the park for the lesson; then walk back to the tent afterwards.
Grooming session starts at 10AM.
Lunch is included in your registration fee.
COST:
Hand Stripping Workshop Price for 2 Days: $250 per person
Spectator Price for 2 Days: $135 per person
Zoom Price for 2 Days: $135 per person
The Club has negotiated discounted room rates of $84/night (check in June 5, check out June 7) at La Quinta, 2020 Griffith Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. To secure this rate, you must call the hotel directly 336.765.8777 (NOT the 1-800 number), press option “5” to speak to a Front Desk Associate. To secure this special rate, reservations must be made no later than June 1, 2020. There is a two dog limit, no dog fees. When you check in, make sure you reference the Scottish Terrier Club of the Piedmont to ensure you are charged the discount rates.
WHAT TO BRING TO THE WORKSHOP
If you are attending the workshop, you will receive an email with specific instructions to follow and what to bring. In-person participants will be required to sign a liability waiver form upon your arrival that covers normal dog event liabilities along with COVID-19. There are other safety instructions in the email.
