Join the Scottish Terrier Club of the Piedmont for a terrier grooming seminar for pet terriers (not show dogs) at Just Dogs Academy (3515 Lawrence St., Clemmons, NC 27012) on Friday, October 27 at 1:30PM.

This is a hands-on seminar for pet owners and groomers. You will groom your own dog during the seminar. Here is your chance to learn grooming techniques to save you money by fully grooming your pet terrier yourself or to keep your pet terrier looking great between professional grooms.

You will learn about body structure, how to shape hair to the structure of the dog, proper techniques for scissoring, clippering, nail care, hair products and much more.

The seminar will be taught by Professional Groomer, Rachel Peterson, who has been a pet stylist since 1993.  In the late 2000s, she competed and placed at the Minnesota Pet Expo, Wisconsin Association of Professional Pet Stylists, and the Chicago Pet Expo. She served in the Marine Corps from 2000-2005, and married Brian who also served in the Marines.  She started and owned successful dog grooming salons in Jacksonville NC, Ishpeming MI, Bridgeton NC, and New Bern NC.  She also trained and mentored proficient groomers and business owners. She started showing poodles in UKC in 2015 and AKC in 2018. She finished her first Scottish Terrier in 2021, entirely owner-handled. Her goals have always been to treat animals (and people) with respect, do the best job she can, stay humble, and never stop learning.  

The seminar is $85 per person with one dog. You will need to bring your bathed and dried dog, grooming table, grooming arm, grooming tools (scissors, clippers with blades, nail grinder, comb, brush and any other tools you use on your dog), bowl for water for your dog, crate for your dog and a stool. A late afternoon snack will be provided. When you sign up, please complete the form with the breed of dog that you will bring to ensure that we have customized materials for you.
